The Firm
Broad & Stone is a law firm built on a simple conviction: the lawyers who serve clients should be the lawyers who know the work.
Founded in 2009 by a group of partners who left established firms to build something different, Broad & Stone operates with a structure designed around substantive excellence rather than institutional scale. Our partners originate their own client relationships, manage those relationships personally, and do the legal work themselves. We do not delegate judgment.
The firm maintains a deliberately low ratio of associates to partners. This means our associates work directly with partners on every matter — receiving the kind of training and responsibility that larger firms reserve for mid-level and senior attorneys. It also means our clients receive the sustained personal attention of the lawyers they hired, not a rotating cast of associates they have never met.
We represent hedge funds, private equity sponsors, financial institutions, growth-stage technology companies, and individuals and entities in high-stakes commercial disputes. Our litigation practice has a proven record of trial results. Our transactional practice is built around complex structures and creative fee arrangements that align our interests with our clients' outcomes.
We are approximately thirty partners and fifty associates. We do not measure ourselves by headcount.

What we do
Corporate / M&A
Fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, venture capital financing, and corporate governance. We represent sponsors, management teams, and portfolio companies across the capital structure.
Hedge Funds, PE & Financial Institutions
Formation, regulatory compliance, investor relations, seed and growth-stage investment, and ongoing operational counsel for alternative asset managers, broker-dealers, and fintech companies.
Securities & Regulatory
SEC enforcement defense, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, securities litigation, and disclosure counseling. We advise public and private companies on the full spectrum of securities law obligations.
Complex Commercial Litigation
Trial-ready representation in high-stakes commercial disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, fiduciary duty claims, trade secrets, and partnership disputes. We try cases. We do not posture.
Intellectual Property
Patent prosecution and licensing, trade secret litigation, IP transactions, technology transfer agreements, and university licensing and commercialization.

Broad & Stone does not recruit conventionally. We do not participate in on-campus interview programs or host cocktail receptions. We hire lawyers who seek us out — who have heard what we do, understand how we work, and want to be part of it.
We expect more from our associates than most firms, and we give more in return. From your first day, you will work directly with partners on live matters with real stakes. You will draft documents that clients rely on, prepare witnesses who will testify, and negotiate terms that close deals. You will not spend your first years reviewing documents in a windowless room.
In exchange, we expect ownership. When a partner hands you a task, it becomes yours — the research, the drafting, the follow-through, and the result. We do not supervise by hovering. We supervise by holding you accountable for the quality of your work.
